Exploring Reykjavik - Street Art

My recent trip to Iceland was incredible. One of the days out there, we went for a wonder around Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland. I totally underestimated how incredible the city was. I had blisters on my feet, I was gloveless in a snowy city and knowing that I had a big walk around a city stopped me from appreciating the city at first.

The main thing that caught my eye was the street art. The street art here was incredible, I honestly wish I lived in a town that had such good street art everywhere you looked.

The first one I spied was this eagle one on the side of a building. What impressed me most about this was the colours.

I thought this one was pretty funky. They painted an acorn tied to a rope with was connected to a nail in the wall (if that makes any sense).

This one baffled me a little. The top of this roof had this sort of sequin/glitter thing hanging from it. It was strange but I sort of loved it.

This wasn't street art but I thought it was the cutest thing. On one of the main streets, there was a gate with lots of gloves hanging off of the top. Below there was a sign saying "Single Gloves... Speed dating never dies". I thought it was the cutest and most unusual thing.

This one was definitely my favourite. A monochrome giraffe wearing 3D glasses saying "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass". Whoever came up with this idea, I love you.

The thing I loved most about this tiger was the deep purple background and how it corresponded with the beige brown of the tiger.

This is probably my second favourite. It took a few looks to actually understand it. It's a girls hair (I think) in some clear sea water with fish eating it. Also if you look closely you can see a turqouise girl chewing on a piece of hair too. Brilliant.

Yet again, this is a very different post to usual but I thought it was something I had to blog about. If you're ever in Iceland, make sure you have a look at the amazing street art in Reykjavik as well as the spectacular waterfalls, glaciers and lagoons.
