So it's been a while..

I am very aware of my recent absence. I decided to delete my blog around September because I needed a break, even if that break was 3 months long. A complete break. No attachments, and that's what I got. I'm not sure if any of you are still around now, but I thought I would pop in and say a quick hello.

I decided to change my name from Emily's Beauty Thoughts to Written to You by Emily. I thought the new name suited my content a little better.

I can't promise anything about my updates on here. I don't know what will become of this blog in 2017, but I hope to experience the joy of blogging once again. I love it and I want to be active again. I am now in year 11, with many exams and school work ahead of me. I'm not sure if blogging will be a distraction or a release when it comes to revision, we shall have to wait and see.

I am open to suggestions for posts, so on. I want to know what you'd like to see on here. Maybe I might do a whole month of blogging in January or February, but my mind is bubbling up with ideas for posts.

I hope my return is welcome, and I am sorry for my lack of activity.

I'm trying to get back in the swing of things on here, just give me a little time. Anyway, I hope your have a good day and I will see you in my next post

Sort of Artsy Pictures

Eeek! I have been away from this blog for a little too long so I thought I would post some sort of artsy pictures for a quick post. I went for a walk this morning with my friend and these were taken (and lots more, but I can only get hold of these right now!).

To give you a quick catch-up on where I've been, I went on a family holiday to France which was lovely - lots of fun was had. Then I went to a festival, Soul Survivor, and I honestly think it was one of the best experiences of my life. Anyway, that was a quick catch-up and I will be back to the usual posts soon, I promise!

6 Back to School Life Hacks

The first of my back to school series is here, some life hacks to help you through the school year.

1. Want to make some extra money from just browing the web?

It can be hard to make money whilst in school, but by using QMee you can get paid 5p for just clicking a website (I will link the website, to explain it a little better)

2. Searching for a particular word/phrase in a document or website?

You can use CTRL F (for windows) to get a certain word highlighted to help you find it.

3. Struggle with your alarm?

There are two ways I use to get around this- put your alarm the other side of your room, so you actually have to ge up to switch it off or you can use this great alarm app - Sleep Time (free), which records your sleep movements and plays an alarm when you're in your lightest sleep, so getting up isn't so hard..

4. Lost or forget your schedule?

You can set your timetable/schedule as your phone background so you can see your schedule by just unlocking your phone.

5. Headphones tangled?

Pick a spot half way down the wire and shake it (for at least 10 seconds) (this actually sort of works)

6. Need to block a website to stop procrastination?

By going to keepmeout.com, you can block a website (facebook or youtube etc.) for however long you like.

What's your school life hack if you've got one?

I hope you enjoyed this quick little post, I promise more posts in this Back to School series..

Summer Edit - Collab

Hey guys todays post is a collab with Pretty Perfect, if you haven't checked out her blog then please do, as she posts great make-up and fashion posts frequently! Today we are doing a Summer Edit, where we talk about our favorite summer trends/essentials/tips.

1. Taupe Eyeshadow

Since getting my Make-Up Revolution Iconic 3 palette, I've been a sucker for taupe eyeshadows. I find that it complements my skin better and gives more of a natural and easy look for the summer.

2. Printed Shorts
I am in love with printed shorts, I may have a too big of a collection. They're so easy to wear in the summer, pairing it with a plain t-shirt and some cute sandals but also for the winter by adding a pair of tights.

3. Sleek Bronze Block
This is one of my favourite products from Sleek, and it's great for a beginner bronzer. I'm sure I've talked about this on my blog before - but I love it! It has four blocks, three different bronzing shades (perfect to choose each day) and one blusher.

4. Deep Pink Nails
Throughout Summer, this is the colour on my toe nails. It's bright and goes with almost all the outfits I have been wearing this Summer. You can find this colour at Barry M and Bourjois.

5. Brown Sandals
Lastly, I'm in love with brown sandals this Summer. I'm forever using my brown bag and I find these fit perfectly with it. I own two, one from New Look and one pair from Accessorize. As I normally wear either blue or burgundy, these sandals pair great with both colours.

Anyway, that's it for today's post, I hope you enjoyed learning about my favourite summer trends/essentials. Remember to check out Pretty Perfect too.

This Post isn't Socially Acceptable

I'm not sure I'm aloud to say this, but I am confident about my body shape/size. Yes, I have a bit of a muffin top and I also have legs that resemble tree trunks, with stretch marks like tree bark. But, I am happy with my body. Yes, there I said it, I'm happy with my body. And I am so so (x100) lucky that I feel this way because more than the majority of teen girls don't feel this away about their body.

But I feel like I can't say this out loud. I feel like it might offend someone - the fact that I'm happy with my body. I feel like I would be boasting if I admitted it out loud, so instead I just cover it up by saying that I see myself as fat etc. This isn't fair on anyone, the self conscious people and the confident.

And I'm not saying that I have the perfect body, I'm far from that but I'm happy with my body. And I don't see why we must have the "perfect" body to be happy with your body. My body has loads of flaws, but I don't mind them. Could you (yes you, the reader) just try not to care so much about what people think? Because at the end of the day what you care is what matters (horrible cheesy quote, just give me a minute for my cringe to pass).

I'm writing this as a blog post in order to help the people who are self conscious and the people in my position, in the hope to change someones mind on the idea of feeling obligated to feel like you're am fat. Who is it helping? It's not helping me, as it makes me see my flaws. And it's not helping you, as it makes you feel even worse about yourself.

If this post happened to offend anyone, I'm really sorry..

This post is a bit out of the ordinary, but I felt like I should write it, just to get the message out there, even if only one person reads it. I will be back with a more cheerful post soon, I promise.

This post is part of a little blogger series I'm taking part in called the "secret blogger project 2015" run by teen bloggers Emily ,Rebekka and Charlotte. The Reason Behind the Emptiness of my Bank Account

Recently, I realised how little summer clothes I have (or I may have used that as an excuse to buy a few clothing items which may have lead to a lot less money in my bank account). Anyway, here are the my recent clothing purchases..

Patterned Shorts
I recently stocked up my patterned shorts as I love patterned shorts. I love how easy they are to pair with other things and how I can add tights to wear them all year round.

Light Blue Shorts with Butterflies - Primark (Pyjama Shorts)
Purple Patterned Shorts - Matalan
Dark Blue with White Dots - Primark
Floral Skort - H&M
Black and White Shorts - Primark

Swimsuits
I'm not a big swimmer, but I thought that I should get some new swimsuits to wear on holiday and to the beach if the weather decides to warm up.

Swimsuit - Primark (It's soo pretty!)
Bikini - Gilly Hicks

Navy-ness
I may have bought 2 navy dresses.. but they're really pretty.

Maxi Dress - New Look (only £6 in the sale)
Short Dress - Primark

Black-ness
Lastly, I bought a bralette and sunglasses. I may do a how to style bralettes post if you guys are interested.

Bralette - Misguided
Sunglasses - Primark

Thanks for having a look at this post, a lot of these items will be featuring in a post tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled.

Seeing as I'm making a come-back, what type of posts would you like to see on here?

What I've Been Up To

It's been almost two weeks since my last post and I feel like I am constantly writing posts apologizing for a lack of posts. Instead, I thought I would do a sort of what I have been up to post, showing my reasons for the lack of posts, whilst making a little less boring (hopefully!).

Work Experience
The week before last I went to work experience. If you're unfamiliar with this, the clue's in the name. I went to a design studio to get the experience of the work place and learn some new things. That week, I hoped to post daily but that lasted Monday and Tuesday. I was always really tired when returning home and either went straight to sleep or just netflixed until I fell asleep, whoops.

A Real Summer
I live in the UK, so basically Summer sort of takes short trips here, normally for a few days and then disappeares for a few weeks, and then returns. I sucks but thats the UK for you. Last week, Summer decided to take a bus ride into town and give us very hot weather. Probably normal weather for foriegners, but us British like to exaggerate. This meant that I did go outside of my room and spent less time writing.

A New Room
I am not going to go into this very much, as I hope to do a whole post on it once it's finished, but I'm refurnishing my room. This doesn't only mean taking up time, but it also means my room is a mess and I feel like I can't write in a messy place.

Exams Arn't Quite Over
Yes, I finished my written exams but last week I did my Welsh aural exam which took up its time and also I have ongoing controlled assessments which is a joy..

Inspiration
With all of this, I have also had a bit of a lack of inspiration but soon I hope to put up some more Summer posts. When I get writers block like this, I just need to force myself to sit down and write which I plan to do very soon.

So there we have a list of things I have been doing lately, what about you, what have you been up to lately?

A new proper post is coming soon so sit tight.

Simple Summer Make-Up

Bare with me, I'm tired and worn out after today so this isn't going to be a big written post. But I thought I would put this make-up look up after having the pictures on my camera for some time.

I used a bunch of my favourites in this look to give a very simple, almost a "no make-up" make-up look type of thing.

For the face I used- (in order of application)

Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturizer
Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation
17 Stay Time Concealer
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

For my eyes I used- (in order of application)
Natural Collection Single Eyeshadow in Seashell
Rimmel London Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel
Collection No Clumps Mascara

And on my lips I put my Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 05

And here is a weird posey picture of my with the make-up (I don't know, I never feel confident to show my face on the internet!).

And that is the look, I'm sorry this is short, but I don't have the energy for a big chunky post. I will be back tomorrow though with hopefully a non-beauty post, as there's been a load recently.

How Much is my Face Worth?

I have seen this post floating around the blogger-sphere, and I thought I'd give it a try.

If you don't know already, the "How Much is my Face Worth?" is a post where you find out how much money you put on your face everyday. I really enjoy reading these posts as I think it's really interesting.

So, how much is my face worth? Here's a list of the products I used this morning-

Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturiser (I'm using a tester at the moment, but here the original price) £34.00
Benefits Oxygen Wow Foundation £26.50
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer £4.19
Rimmel Match Perfection Powder £3.99
Natural Collection Seashell Eyeshadow £1.99
Collection No Clumps Mascara £2.99
Rimmel Kate Lipstick £5.49

All of that is £79.15, wow. I use almost £80 of make-up and half of it is drugstore make-up!

Let me know if you'd like to see a post a £20 make-up face challenge sort of post.
